Concept planning studies have been initiated for two important collector roadways –
76 Avenue from 104 Street to Saskatchewan Drive; and 106 Street from Whitemud Drive to Saskatchewan Drive. Discussion for these projects was initiated through the Queen Alexandra Neighbourhood Renewal project, when it was determined more rigorous planning along a longer stretch of the corridors would be beneficial before construction is advanced. The completed concept plan will be built as part of the renewal project in 2017.
Planning for 106 Street will extend beyond Queen Alexandra to include the Allendale, Pleasantview, Empire Park, Strathcona and Garneau communities. A Community Traffic Management Planning process is underway in Pleasantview that includes potential traffic calming measures on 106 Street.
Planning for 76 Avenue will extend beyond Queen Alexandra to include the communities of Belgravia and McKernan, where there is discussion underway regarding the Belgravia-Mckernan Station Area Redevelopment Plan and traffic management issues in the community.
